Description
Castell in Llano County is located on the Edwards Plateau as a part of the Texas Hill Country. The Colorado and Llano Rivers flow over and through limestone. The Llano Uplift combined with erosional Paleozoic strata form prominent hills. Enchanted Rock is a part of the scenery as gravel roads meander through these sparsely populated old ranch lands. This gravel ride is in the quiet countryside on flat to rolling roads that allows you to enjoy nature with moments of adventure and impressive vistas. Note: Customized routes based on guests' preferences and weather.

Guides
I have been living & biking in Texas and Austin for the past 18 years. Guiding road and gravel tours for TXBT for the past couple years gives opportunities to meet guests from ... moreall over the world and share my best routes on less traveled bucolic gravel roads. Providng guests with professional quality photos of our time together as a gift is a pleasure. You can expect amazing photos at the end of your tour with me.

Dennis also manages Night Owls Racing team. Night owls has 16 members and races road, criterium and gravel races. Ted King, the 2x winner of Dirty Kanza, world most famous gravel race is one of the team's sponsors. You can watch his latest Ted King interview here.

TXBT creates custom cycling experiences including mountain biking, road cycling, city cycling, and most importantly, gravel riding. Founded in 2012 with the goal of spreading the joy of cycling, supporting you in your desire to ride gravel is aligned with that goal. Realizing your vision of this guided tour is our focus.
We learn about your preferences, your cycling life and what you hope will happen. As we know the area well, we create a route that will match that information and provide a bit of a challenge along the way.
With a large trailer especially equipped to transport bikes and related gear, we provide ground transportation for you, your bikes, and if there is an overnight, your luggage etc. from Austin to the ride start. After the ride, you can be transported back to Austin or to your place of residence in the area.
The culinary experience director for TXBT prepares specialty items for you as a part of the ride. A past favorite has been handmade donuts and banana nut bread. You tell us what you want us to prepare and it will be there for you in the SAG wagon.
The routes are mostly gravel with some paved roads. The tires should be fatter than road bike tires. A cyclocross or mountain bike would work. There are bikes specifically sold as gravel bikes. Specialized Diverge Comp E5 and a Trek Domani would work too.
As we only have custom rides, there is no set schedule of rides to book. Sometimes we can make it all happen with short notice, but the more notice we have the better…to book the right guide for you, create the route, block the calendar, assign the SAG wagon, get that chef busy in the kitchen….
