Awesome Texas Bike Tours Experience

In a nutshell, what Deaton Bednar offers with her TXBT is more than a bike tour, it’s an experience, and a custom one at that. I’m a 5ft tall, 70+ yr old lady, with a goal to bike ride in each of the 50 States, Texas being #11. Fortunately, I picked Austin for the Texas leg of my journey because that decision got me connected with Deaton who put together a most amazing 40-mile through the hill country from Dripping Springs to Wimberly.

From my very first email exchange with Deaton, I knew that she was the right person to put together a ride meeting all of my needs: a bike rental, a safe route, and SAG support. In fact, Deaton drove the support van and stocked it with snacks of my choice. She even took photos and video clips of me pedaling along the country roads and Drop-boxed them to me. Because of my age, safety was my utmost concern and Deaton made that her priority as well, going so far as to swap out bikes at the last minute due to my concern regarding drop handlebars vs flat bars with which I was more familiar.

My husband joined me for part of the ride on an e-bike that Deaton also arranged. Nothing was a bother for her. She even drove him to the endpoint restaurant so that he could relax while waiting for me to complete my journey.

The three of us concluded the experience with lunch in Wimberley at the Leaning Pear which I also highly recommend. Bottom line, Deaton set a high bar for expectations for me with the rest of my States’ rides. Finally, Deaton became more than a tour guide…I now count her as a friend.
