Solo Cycling Day Ride of 160 Miles

Solo Bike ride of 160 miles on gravel, country roads, highways, and city streets with SAG cycling support.

Tour Description:

This solo cycling experience began with a short email asking for SAG support on a one-day Austin to Houston bike ride.

From this beginning to the successful ride to Houston: together we created a plan, Joey the cyclist trained for the long ride, TXBT organized and prepared, and then the day came.

We met at 3 a.m. to begin the ride which meant hours of night cycling for Joey at the beginning.

And finally – more traffic on highways and city streets. No time for photography. We were both focused on cycling into and through Houston safely.

The happiest moment was seeing Joey cycling onto the driveway of his parent’s home where his family cheered him as he rolled in successfully achieving his goal.

It was a precious moment after a full 16+hour day. I savored the looks of joy on the faces of everyone rather than capturing the moment on film. Joey did the work. He was strong, smart and tenacious on the ride. Joey earned his victory and our forever-respect. An impressive guest.

Tour Review

Best Ride Ever

For my 40th Birthday, I had a goal to put my mind and body to the ultimate challenge, and planed an Ultra Endurance bike ride from Austin to Houston in one day. It was very difficult for me to find a driver to support me on this ride, until I contacted Texas Bike Tours.

Texas Bike Tours welcomed the ride, and was more than happy to help me for this. After planning for this ride for a few months, during the week of execution, we had some planning discussions and everything worked out very well. Deaton showed me the setup she had planned out, and the strategy we used to execute this plan.

The day of the ride we executed the ride, and TXBT was behind me the entire time. They were there for me for all situations, Fueling, Rest stops etc.

Best of all I completed the ride with the goal and achieved the goal. I biked 160 Miles from Austin to Houston, and everything was fully successful.

Best way to turn 40, and one of the best experiences of my life. I don’t think I could have completed this safely without the help of Texas Bike Tours. Thank you so much for helping me complete this.
